Elie Wiesels Night Essay -- Essays Papers
Night In Night, by Elie Wiesel, there is a fundamental topic of outrage. Outrage not coordinated where it appears to be generally fitting at the Nazis-but instead a more profound, ingrained displeasure coordinated towards God. Having once been a good example of everything a ââ¬Å"good Jewâ⬠ought to be, Wiesel gradually changes into a fickle individual. He can't understand why the God who should love and care for His kin would decline to shield them from the Germans. This indignation develops as Wiesel does and is a steady subject all through the book. From the get-go in Night, Elie Wiesel starts to communicate question about his confidence. Some discussed God, of his strange ways, ...and of their future liberation. However, I had stopped to ask. How I felt for Job! I didn't deny Godââ¬â¢s presence, however I questioned His total equity. (42) A genuine case of the psychological move happening inside Wiesel, this entry. Having grown up as an offspring of outrageous confidence in God and his perfect force, this is a striking differentiation of profound perspectives. Youthful Wiesel once went through hours petitioning God when he had almost no worries (particularly when contrasted with his interests in the inhumane imprisonment). Since he is in a difficult time, one would believe that his confidence would be something he would want to discover comfort in. The tone of the primary sentence nearly sounds mocking as though Wiesel might suspect it odd that his kin would even consider supplicating by any means. He appears to see himself as being most importantly of that, not requiring his confidence as he felt it could (or would) never really help spare him. In Wieselââ¬â¢s feeling for Job, I see a logical inconsistency, be that as it may. Occupation was a man of gigantic confidence in God who, in any event, when everything (starvation, plague, demise of the entirety of his family, malady, destitution) turned out badly, he despite everything had confidence in God. Occupation never questioned that the Lord would continue him and bolster him. While then again, Wiesel has surrendered all expectation that he will be safeguarded by his confidence. He has not quit having confidence in God, in any case. Maybe he has quit having confidence in the specific God he has grown up adoring. The last sentence gives us that he despite everything accepts that there is a God, he essentially no longer trusts him. He feels just as his kin have been sold out and God is permitting the Jews to become casualties for no obvious explanation. As Night advances, Wiesel turns out to be progressively more hostil... ...see the internal retribution of Wiesel to the contention he encapsulates been battling. As of recently, Wiesel has felt regretful about his developing doubt in God. Since adolescence, the focal point of the youthful boyââ¬â¢s life has been profound and now he feels sold out. He even goes similar to stating that he, the informer, is denouncing God himself. Wiesel proceeds to state that his was separated from everyone else ââ¬Å"terribly alone.â⬠There is nothing in this world-religion, man, love, benevolence with the exception of Wiesel himself. This is unexpected, seeing that he and different Jews were so firmly stuffed into first the ghetto, at that point the trains, at long last the camps themselves. It would appear truly, in any event that Wiesel was nearer to more individuals now than any time in recent memory in his life. He lets us know, in any case, that he feel just as he is awfully, appallingly alone. Wiesel discusses feeling that he is more grounded than God. He sees people around him as being feeble in view of their requirement for God. Requiring anything while in bondage can just make him more vulnerable and progressively powerless. Since Wiesel feels relinquished and has calloused over his requirement for God, he feels more grounded than the remainder of the Jewish individuals more grounded even than the One they need.

Preparing plan should be organized appropriately so different units of fire are really not unavailable at onetime leaving enormous territories of the city without assurance. Hamlet as Tragic Hero Essay - 1361 Words
Hamlet, the titled character of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s most prominent play, is arguably the most complex, relatable, and deep character created by Shakespeare. His actions and thoughts throughout the play show the audience how fully developed and unpredictable he is with his mixed personalities. What Hamlet goes through in the play defines the adventures encountered by a tragic hero. In this timeless tragedy, despite Hamletââ¬â¢s great nobility and knowledge, he has a tragic flaw that ultimately leads to his ironic death. The conception of this character dates back to as early as the 13th century. In this revenge tragedy, which is a play in which the plot typically centers on a spectacular attempt to avenge the murder of a family member, Hamletââ¬â¢s call to adventure is when the ghost, whom he believes to be the ghost of his recently deceased father, beseeches Hamlet that he avenge his death (Charters and Charters 1251). At first looking at the ghost, he questions the authority of him and contemplates that the apparition is just the devil tempting him: Angels and ministers of grace defend us! Be thou a spirit of health or goblin damnââ¬â¢d, Bring with thee airs from heaven or blasts from hell, Be thy intents wicked or charitable Thou comââ¬â¢st in such a questionable shape (I. iv. 39-43) This is the first time the audience becomes aware of Hamletââ¬â¢s ability to be a great thinker and philosopher. However, from this moment on, Hamlet is divulged into a downward spiral of an obsession of death and tragedy. This onus that he must set things right that his conscience forces him to carry during the play is the inception of his hamartia. Comparing Creons Metamorphosis in Antigone, Oedipus the...
Creons Metamorphosis in Antigone, Oedipus the King, and Oedipus at Colonus Temptation is ever present in our society and always has been throughout human history. When a person gives into temptation, this is seen as a sign of weakness. Usually, after a person has given into temptation once, that person will find each successive temptation easier and easier to give in to. Before realizing it, this person has changed into a completely false, morally lacking being. Over the course of Sophocles three plays Antigone, Oedipus the King, and Oedipus at Colonus, Creon gradually changes from a moral, just king into a morally corrupt and deceptive character. In the opening of the first Theban play, Oedipus theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Who would?* How could kingship Please me more than influence, power Without a qualm? (Lines 654-665). Work Ethics Essay Example For Students
Work Ethics Essay IntroductionThis paper explores how moral and ethical beliefs are formed in our society. We further explore how the moral and ethical beliefs that a child learns at a very early age evolves as that child enters the school community and then finally the business community. Morals and EthicsSocietys acceptance of certain behaviors throughout time is what formulates the current moral and ethical beliefs. What was immoral 50 years ago may be considered acceptable or tolerable behaviors now. The basic moral and ethical beliefs are standards of conduct that indicates how we should behave based on our moral duties and virtues, which themselves are derived from our principles of right and wrong. Ethics are about how we meet the challenge of doing the right thing when it will cost us more than we want to pay. Morals describe our beliefs, customs and traditions that are reflected in our personal convictions about right and wrong.Values are our core beliefs or desires that guide or motivate our attitudes and actions. They also define the things we value and prize the most, and, therefore, provide the basis for ranking the things we want in a way that elevates some values over others. Thus, our values determine how we will behave in certain situations. They look to see if others follow the societal norms, rules, and laws. In terms of children, we are describing their ability to distinguish right from wrong. Two individuals, Jean Piaget and Lawrence Kohlberg, studied the moral development of children. Piaget looked at how children develop moral reasoning. He found that young children have a much more primitive understanding of right and wrong behavior than do older children. Piaget determined that younger children judge bad behavior by the amount of damage caused by a persons behavior. He would tell children a story with a moral dilemma. He would ask them to tell him who is naughtier? a boy who accidentally broke fifteen cups or a boy who breaks one cup trying to reach a jam jar when his mother is not around. Younger children attributed the naughty behavior to the boy who broke the most cups regardless of the other childs intent. This type of moral reasoning was called Objective Morality or Moral Realism. Older children attributed bad behavior to the boy who broke only one cup because his motives where bad. This, more advanced form of moral reasoning was called Subjective Morality or Autonomous Morality. Piaget expressed that children do not fully achieve this stage of moral development until the ages of twelve or thirteen. As the later stages of moral development reveal, children can make a choice not to follow societys rules or laws. Parents must accept that reality, thats part of parents on-going moral development. It also provides parents do motivation to improve and develop morals at an early age. Understanding moral development allows parents to assess their children and have a better target for their individual development. It redefines our roles as teachers and guides over the unpleasant tasks of police and judges. Hopefully, the end result is that our child wi ll be the one who will stop and wait for someone in need, regardless of what the crowd says he or she should do. Children listen to their parent discuss and sometimes argue about certain issues, politics, social problems, moral issues and even opinions about how others behave. In the early years a child looks to their parents as the final authority on any subject. Its not uncommon to overhear a child explain something as being absolutely true because their mommy or daddy said so.During this time we teach our children about fairness, friendship and kindness. .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e , .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .postImageUrl , .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e , .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:hover , .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:visited , .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:active { border:0!important; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:active , .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u8900a6a71ccd013a5e173c071360905e:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Immigration Analysis EssayDuring this most influential time in a childs life, parents have the opportunity to mold a kind and giving child. effects of 2000 elections. essays The Election that Turned on the Lightbulb in America The election process has finally ended, and out from the dust, a new president comes forward. Like an old Western movie, the battle between two foes has prompted a new method of handling the town's affairs. As a result of the election, the country will benefit enormously from the mistakes it had uncovered over the past month or so. We have found a new faith in our judicial system. As well as a new found respect for the slogan, "every vote counts." In addition, the media has been forced to change their approach on reporting the election. Thus, the country can only strive from overcoming adversity and gaining new knowledge. The judicial system emerged to be a fair and powerful force during the final days of the election fiasco. First, it gave a detailed lesson on the process of judicial review and constitutional laws, that in effect, gave the American people a sense of fairness and truth. The exchange of court battles from circuit courts, to appeal courts, to state supreme courts, to US Supreme Court, seemed to bring no end to the conflict in the state of Florida. Finally, with the constitution on their side, the Supreme Court of the United States made a decision that gave Americans a sigh of relief. It gave the right to decide the election in the hand of the people, and more precisely, to the secretary of state of Florida. The judicial system became the median between political parties that were at warfare. At times, the decisions made by the courts favored both George Bush and Al Gore. The election confirmed, our judicial branch was fair and not influenced by political belief. Consequently, the courts came out of this election as a father figure that is not bias nor weak. The voting process was affected heavily by the two thousand elections. Countless problems with ancient voting ballots and mac ...

Speculate on the presence of ObsessiveCompulsive Behavior in the Essay
Speculate on the presence of ObsessiveCompulsive Behavior in the personal makeup of two characters in Rocking Horse Winner - Essay Example This disorder is further divided into both obsessive behaviors and compulsive behaviors. Obsessions refer to the thought process, whether in the form of impulses or images, and compulsions refer to the consequent actions. A well-established set of diagnostic criteria define obsessions as repetitive, distressing, and continuous thoughts that are experienced and which cause a perceived need to behave in some way. An important point is that these worries and concerns go beyond normal, real-life concerns. More, attempts to suppress or to ignore these types of thoughts are frequent and often futile. The individual experiencing the obsession, in this type of disorder, is aware of the fact that the obsessions are emanating from the self rather than from external sources. Compulsions are the result of the obsessions; more specifically, compulsions are the acting out, either physically or mentally, of repetitive tasks. These tasks are performed in order to reduce the stress caused by the obse ssion or to prevent the occurrence of some feared event or situation. The important point is that these compulsions, these acts, are not logically related to the obsession and are excessive. The important point is that these compulsions, these acts, are not logically related to the obsession and are excessive. In short, an obsessive-compulsive behavior is one in which obsessive thoughts cause compulsive acts which are not reasonable. This essay will evaluate two characters in the Rocking Horse Winner. This evaluation will seek to determine whether these two characters, Paul and Joan, can be said to suffer from an obsessive-compulsive disorder. This essay will argue that Paul's behavior, both in terms of his thoughts and actions, closely resembles obsessive-compulsive behavior; on the other hand, his sister, Joan, evidences some obsessive characteristics, but does not act out in the form of compulsions. As an initial matter, Paul, like the other children, is haunted by a voice. The voice is persistent and it continues throughout the story. The voice conveys one simple message. The house needs more money. This causes an extreme sort of anxiety for Paul. He hears this voice, he considers it very carefully, and he even consults his mother about the relationship of luck and money. The text explicitly uses the term "anxiety" on multiple occasions. The nature of this voice is significant. It is not simply a soft voice which intrudes infrequently before going dormant; quite the contrary, as the story develops the voice becomes louder and more demanding. Thus far, Paul displays the common characteristics of an obsession. There is a recurrent and persistent thought, the need for more money, and an impulse to find out whether he is lucky. These voices are clearly intrusive and Paul neglects other activities in order to attend to his rocking

Management Theories Of Henri Fayol
Management Theories Of Henri Fayol This scientific approach paved way to rigid adherence to methods and procedures in which planning and control were exclusively in the hands of managers and the workers had no freedom of choice at work. It also led to increased break-up of labour due to its importance on divisional labour. Many of the human aspects of employment were ignored and it also led to the beginning of boring and repetitive jobs. Compatibility of Taylors theory in Todays World + Selection, training, employee benefits and motivation, which are areas directly relevant to managing people in todays environment are the major contribution from Taylors theory. They are still practiced today and have been the base of every management field. + However, Taylorism cannot be used widely in todays business environment, where the majority of workforce entails to soft skills. The present generation organization is majorly into automation and it runs on innovative ideas and logical thinking. Recent stock prices show that Apple Inc. beats Microsoft at Change Management. The reasons behind the stunning turnaround were found to be the failure of imagination and failure to execute at Microsoft Corporation. If you want to have great people in your company you have to let them make decisions and you have to run by ideas, not hierarchy. Best ideas have to win and good people stay in the company. Steve Jobs, ex-CEO Apple Inc. These innovative ideas and thinking cannot be weighted on any physical scales. They need to be recognized and evaluated on human aspects and one cannot evaluate it with a scientific approach of Taylorism. + Taylors scientific study of the tasks was to bring standardization to work and to overcome the inefficiency of workers in almost all of their daily acts. But in todays business world the standardization of work for a position is almost set in all the major companies across the globe and employees have the choice of adapting and implementing their skills in the best possible way to achieve the goals of the organization. + Division of work develops hierarchical based environment. Though it eases employees and managers to concentrate and work in specified areas, it depreciates the growth of organization to run by new ideas. Current market craves for employees who practice multitasking and have the zest to implement new technologies and eliminates employees who perform single specialized tasks in the same old routine. Henri Fayol Father of Administrative Management [1841-1925] While scientific development emphasised principles to improve worker effectiveness, another branch within the classical school arose, administrative management, with its main contributor being French industrialist Henri Fayol. He is regarded as the father of administrative management as he proposed fourteen principles of management intended to assist managers in determining what to do to manage an organisation more effectively (Rodrigues, 2001). Fayols ideas are still valid in todays organisations and his definitions of management are widely used in this field of study. Compatibility of Fayols Principles of Management in Todays World + Today, employees are much oriented towards challenging and interesting jobs. Though the division of work help employees to specialize specific skills, they seek more challenging opportunity once they expertize on their skills. Also, companies have downsized their staff with people who are multitasking and have the quest to explore beyond their area of expertise. This has helped organizations to stay competitive with best of the employees in the field. + Though Managers are authorized and majorly responsible for a project commencement and its completion, companies rely heavily on employee participation and empowerment for the best outcome. + Matrix organizational structures have ruled over unidirectional layout of organization. Every department in an organization are heavily depended on each other and this brings together employees and managers from different departments to work toward accomplishing organizational goals. + Many of the private organization now practice reward based on performance referred as performance based pay systems. This has motivated employees to bring out the best of their capabilities and potential. + Hierarchical decision making is vanishing in present industries. It has been observed that maximum creativity can be obtained with reduction of hierarchical elements and adapting cooperate culture. Industries now focus on less hierarchical, less formalized and flatter decision making organization structure. + Commitment of an employee is achieved if the organization strongly considers the interest of the employee. In past employees strived for equity, today organizations provide sense of ownership to their committed employees. + Stability of personnel tenure doesnt hold much significance in present organization. Downsizing strategies has flattened many middle management positions and enriched lower-level employees job. This has helped in cost cutting and maintaining committed group of employees. The Global recession which struck 2008-2012, ILO [International Labour Organization] predicted that at least 20 million jobs were lost by the end of 2009- mainly in construction, real estate, financial services, and the auto. This huge figure sets an example of the instability of personnel tenure today and that it depends on many factors of which global economic influence on the organization is one such reason. + Maintaining Esprit de corps is not practical in todays world. Organizations these days hire more and more of temporary and project contractual basis. Moreover, downsizing strategies and prospects of staff cuts has tended to lower the employee morale. Fayol was the first to define management which is generally familiar today as forecast and plan, to organise, to command, to co-ordinate and to control. Fayol also gave much of the basic terminology and concepts, which would be elaborated upon by future researchers, such as division of labour, scalar chain, unity of command and centralization. Many of these principles have been absorbed into modern day organisations, but they were not designed to cope with conditions of rapid change and issues of employee participation in the decision making process of organisations, such as are current today in the early 21st century. Max Weber [Maximilian Karl Emil Weber 1864 -1920] Max Weber, a german sociologist whose bureaucratic studies are found to be very dominant in the present world. Bureaucratic Theory of Management by Weber is said to be the most efficient organizational structure that could be implemented to achieve the best of the organizations goals. Webers bureaucracy was blueprint of dividing responsibility, authority and accountability. Compatibility of Webers Principles of Management in Todays World + Bureaucratic organization is a very rigid type of organization. They are bound by rigid controls and cant find themselves adaptable to changing conditions in the marketplace, industry or legal environment. Vodafone UKs approach to Flexibility Productivity Looking at the business when I arrived, I realised that while Vodafone UKs products and services remained innovative and competitive, its corporate culture was too rigid for the fast-paced market and too autocratic to attract the best new talent. Guy Laurence, CEO Vodafone UK. Vodafone UK idea was that if the company expects its customers to buy its products, it should also be willing to use those products .Vodafone UK reformed their organization by bringing a change in their workplace, and change in their work environment like no assigned offices or desks, no tethered phones or computers, a variety of purpose-built meeting spaces, a tough clean desk and lots of coffee. The results were immediate and intense: from a good reduction in the speed of decision-making, meetings, paper, flights and sales cycle times to a high revenue growth and corporate solutions. + Though senior level employees in such organizational structures can exercise a great deal of control over organizational strategy decisions, front-line employees may receive less satisfaction, as it will make it practically impossible for them to generate the range of strategic ideas possible in a large, interdisciplinary group. This may result in the increase in turnover rates. + Webers three types of legitimate rule are traditional, charismatic, and legal-rational authority. Traditional Authority In this system leaders have a traditional and legitimate right to exercise authorities. Such systems are rigid, do not encourage social change, and are found to be irrational and unreliable. Charismatic Authority Authority is with leaders who influence others by their mission or vision. It greatly depends on such leaders outlook and is highly tentative. They are liable to mislead the followers to a great extent, if they dont have strong doctrines. The US invasion on Iraq Webers authority types help to explain the US invading Iraq in March 2003. It was the charismatic authority, personified by US President George W. Bush which lead to this invasion. He was able to influence the American populace for the urgency to attack Iraq. It is also said that, a majority of Americans were effectively influenced by Bush in whatever he did. Though there was a confliction in legal as we as charismatic authority internationally, as Bush exhibited international law and the UN by such an illegal act. Even though this invasion was illegal, the international community and legal authority of the UN were not able to enforce international law or to stop the US invasion. Rational Legal Authority Authority empowered by legal and natural law. This authority has found strong roots in the modern state, city governments, private and public corporations, and various voluntary associations. Weber as we study was strongly influenced by his mothers moral absolutists ideas and opinions at a very young age. He followed the universal cultural history very closely and also enjoyed reading the classics. The strong roots of his expression of bureaucracy is visible in the fact that he was bored with his secondary education, that he has often described as very unchallenging. Conclusion The various management principles had been laid down since the later part of the 19th century. Applications of the approaches were mostly based on the cultural, political and environmental requirements. The real challenge of implementing the approaches was least witnessed till the late 20th century. The last 10-15 years leaders and managers involved the importance of Change as a practice. While implementing Change management within any organization, two factors that seem to be inevitable are Sustainability and Performance Management. Sustainability and the need for change: What does our Organization stand for? What are we good at, and do we need to change? How can we change? Will we change our Organization? Managers must evaluate their organizations and business by asking and answering to these questions, if they have a regard to sustain in an era that has been largely influenced by strategic thinking. The 2010 United Nations Global Compact-Accenture CEO study (UN Global Compact and Accenture, 2010) found that 93 per cent of CEOs now believe sustainability will be critical to the future success of their companies. A critical mass of business leaders, 80 per cent, believes a tipping point will be reached within the next 15 years when sustainability will be automatically embedded in the core business and strategies of most companies, and 54 per cent believe this tipping point could be reached within the next ten years. There is thus a significant shift in thinking with profound implications for questions of organisational purpose, strategy, brand, competence and culture globally.(Journal of Organizational Change Management, Carla Miller, Vol. 25 Iss: 4 pp. 489 500, 2012). Performance Management: It must be a continuous process and an integrated part of any manager employee relationship. One of the most important aspect of performance management is setting challenging goals. In practice, as we learn goals in a modern world are contextual or situational. Yahweh: The Powerful, Soverseign Being God Essay -- text, behind, fron
Since the beginning of time, Yahweh has been illustrated as a powerful, sovereign being, and as the creator of good and evil. This characterization of God is presented through a methodological analysis of the three worlds- world behind the text, world in front of the text, and world of the text- in Isaiah 6 and 1 Kings 22. The world behind the text is the era of Ahab's ruling. The king of Aram and Ahab, the king of Israel created a treaty upon their kingdoms. However, in the third year of their treaty, Ahab and his vassal, King Jehosphaphat, realize Ramoth-gilead belonged to the Israelite kingdom. Before seeking battle, King Ahab calls upon his 400 prophets to determine if the kingdom was in favor in battle. However, King Jehosphaphat doubts Ahab's royal court. Hesitant of Micaiah's unfavored predictions of Ahab, the king summons Micaiah. Micaiah's relationship with the other 400 prophets was stable, until the messenger of King Ahab tries to persuade Micaiah to lie to the king, 1 However, Micaiah speaks the truth and predicts failure for Ahab. Because of Micaiah's faithfulness to Yahweh, the 400 prophets resent Micaiah in fear that his prophecy is accurate. Fulfilling Micaiah's prophecy and the Lord's intention, Ahab is defeated and killed in war. Micaiah and Isaiah's revelation of God are analyzed in the world in front of the text. Isaiah's prophet "call" and the account of Micaiah's prophecy has similarities and difference between the two texts. Isaiah 6 and Micaiah 22 passages describe Yahweh enthroned at divine council. A judgment is being held regarding the future of the human realm. The two prophets, Isaiah and Micaiah, witness the discussion of this issue between God and the heavenly council. The Lord asks for assista... ...t. In 1 Kings, Micaiah foretells that 8Cyrus carried out the Lord's mission and effected Israel's salvation; he became the new king of Israel, and new shepherd for the Israelites. The Lord is recognized as being the creator and controller of nature and history, 9 God is the maker of weal and woe, good and evil. Yahweh creates a temporary evil to entice Ahab to seek war. He places a lying spirit in the mouths of his prophets to support his decision to battle Aram. Because of this temptation and evil, Ahab is defeated and killed at war. The two prophet's accounts of God have structural similarities; however, they both contain differences. In Isaiah's vision of God, He is illustrated as a powerful and sovereign being. Whereas in Micaiah's passage, Yahweh is portrayed as a creator of good and evil. Isaiah 45 combines these two characteristics of God to better explain.
